BVH obtains a new pharmacy for hospital and community patients

Blanchard Valley Health System announced construction of a new inpatient and community pharmacy at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

All the details are in the following Press release from BVHS.

The Blanchard Valley Hospital (BVH) inpatient pharmacy, as well as the Medication Management Center, the outpatient pharmacy for our community members, are currently under construction. They are moved to a more convenient location within BVH, located at 1900 Main Street South in Findlay, on the ground floor adjacent to the Healing Grounds cafe. The innovative project will provide more convenience to customers as well as additional services.

“This project aligns with our mission of ‘Caring for a life.’ We strive to bring the best service and quality to our community, and the new state-of-the-art pharmacy will keep the program strong for the long term,” said Myron D. Lewis, President and CEO of BVHS.

BVHS associates also had the opportunity to contribute to the development of the layout and design of the pharmacy. The team, comprised of subject matter experts from across the healthcare system, used a 3D mockup to assess workflow and processes.

“This is part of our long-term space planning efforts,” said Ryan Shoemaker, Director of Facilities and Support Services. “Patients will begin to see construction mobilizing in place, and the new pharmacy should be operational by the fall.”

Another part of the innovative project will consist of large sterile preparation rooms for hazardous and non-hazardous drugs. As pharmacy regulations have changed, the way drugs should be handled has also changed. The new prep rooms will enable best practices.

“We look forward to the opportunities that the new pharmacy will bring to BVHS,” concluded Mark Johannigman, Chief Pharmacy Officer. “We hope this new venture will improve quality and service for associates and patients when they visit the Medication Management Center and BVH Hospital Pharmacy.”
