Clinical Pharmacist Position at Ashtons Hospital Pharmacy Services

We have exciting opportunities for pharmacists in the following areas to provide clinical input to inpatient services in mental health and palliative care settings, becoming an essential part of the multidisciplinary team.

Manchester – Full Time

Blackburn/Preston – Full Time

Leatherhead – 2 days a week

Leicester – 2 days a week

Full training and support will be provided. Driving is essential for this position.

The role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person clinical pharmacist who wishes to further develop their clinical skills.

Essential criteria

  • A qualified pharmacist holding a current GPhC registration
  • 1 year of experience after graduation
  • A full UK driving license with access to the vehicle for business purposes
  • Evidence of strong and up-to-date self-directed learning / CPD
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills with peers and multidisciplinary team members
  • Ability to offer sound professional advice regarding clinical or medication management issues

Desirable criteria

  • Mental health / palliative care experience / mental health exposure / palliative care / clinical service experience
  • Post-graduate training – a post-graduate clinical certificate or diploma
  • Pharmacists transitioning from the community will be considered in certain circumstances based on their experience and postgraduate training

Tasks will include:

  • Assume the role of a clinical pharmacist on duty for a wide range of services
  • Serve as a point of advice and information for medical and nursing staff for all the services for which you are responsible
  • Provide medication education to clinical staff on relevant clinical and medication management topics
  • Provide pharmaceutical input to clinical governance meetings
  • Maintain and improve quality and patient safety
