(August 26, 2021) Nantucket Cottage Hospital celebrated the opening of its new retail pharmacy on Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The pharmacy, at 10 Vesper Lane, will officially open on Monday and will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

The new pharmacy is a collaboration between the hospital and longtime Island pharmacist Allan Bell, owner of Island Pharmacy on Pleasant Street and Nantucket Pharmacy on Main Street.

Island Pharmacy will be renamed Island Value and will continue to operate as a retail store, Bell said. He will continue to run Nantucket Pharmacy on Main Street without change.

The hospital’s pharmacy manager, David Small, said discussions are underway to extend opening hours later in the day, but for now the hospital is trying to be as efficient. as possible.
