The Prince of Wales praises community pharmacy teams for their efforts during the pandemic
Last night His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales paid tribute to the incredible efforts of community pharmacy teams throughout the COVID-19 pandemic at a special reception at St James’s Palace.
More than two hundred pharmacists, pharmacy staff and other health service representatives attended the reception, including PSNC CEO Janet Morrison and Vice President Bharat Patel. The event was held, in part, to mark the recent centenary of the NPA.
In his address to attendees, the Prince of Wales praised ‘the dedication and professionalism of pharmacy staff‘ during the Covid-19 pandemic and said: ‘I really hope tonight’s event helps, a little, to highlight the wonderful work you do in your communities day after day.
His Royal Highness continued:
“And, if I may say so too, it is truly inspiring to know that this gathering includes people from so many different backgrounds that make up the pharmacy workforce today. Your profession may be ancient, but it certainly reflects modern Britain in all its splendid diversity.
“At the same time, you are a very familiar feature on the country’s high streets and neighborhoods – something people have relied on and greatly valued over generations. As well as providing quick access to advice and treatment , you are of course also a friendly and reassuring presence in our communities. A place where science, so to speak, meets society. As I said before, pharmacies are about people and places, not just pills . »
Asked about the evening, Bharat Patel said:
“I’m thrilled to see this level of recognition for the work of community pharmacy teams, and I hope the event will raise awareness of these unsung heroes of community healthcare.” It was an honor to meet His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, who seems to appreciate how the pharmaceutical sector has stepped up during the pandemic and is excited about the growing portfolio of pharmaceutical services, making them even more valuable assets. .
